An obvious role for the sector is where it can invest in property development. This requires the sector to have confidence in the future of the neighbourhood. A precondition for this would be that the public sector has a strategic plan to deal with the issues which would be seen as negative – e.g. crime, cleanliness, transport access. “Private sector can deliver on urban regeneration through direct investment in property development or in partnership with local authority”.
