1.6. Key figures on traffic

Traffic flows have increased 3 times in 1997–2002, as measured on workdays at the main entries to and exits (Uzupio, Kriviu, Polocko and Malunu streets) from the Užupis area. Paupys have two blind-end streets: Paupio and Aukstaičių, which after the extreme deduction of the industrial function are used mainly by local residents. 58% of residents have their private cars, very similar to whole city were 52% have own car. There are very few garages and official parking sites in the area, therefore most of the cars are kept in the inner yards of living houses. Number of transit cars passing the main Užupis streets (Uzupio, Paupio, Kriviu, Polocko) per day in 2002 was app. 2950 and in mid 2003 it increased up to an average of 3600.
