Establishment and Mainstreaming

Most of the times regional programmes follow the mainstreaming of the EU, for example with economic and job promotion, urban regeneration or equal treatment of people with different origin and different gender.

The Schanzenkieker programme stands for successful mainstreaming. With this project frameworks and structures have been changed completely. The subject cleanliness has a great influence on other fields. The project turned into a permanent task after two years of piloting phase and has been lastingly established in two other neighbourhoods in the meantime.

Regarding the theme-complex of start-up promotion two start-up houses could be developed in the district. Both facilities have been established as permanent projects. However, the specific local counselling approach could not be transferred to the entire city. The City of Hamburg still sticks to an entire city strategy and does not pay much attention to local approaches.
