Case Studies   Urban Regeneration in the City of Dublin: Partnership structures and integrated area planning

Anchoring and mainstreaming

It is hoped that the projects currently underway will be sustainable in future years, due to being mixed development sites. In almost every case, the projects developed are intended to at least partly fund themselves, through the sale of private residential units, offices, the sale and rent of retail units, etc. The tax incentive schemes in operation throughout the 1990s have helped to create a critical mass of flagship projects in the city which it is hoped will remain sustainable in the long term. The emphasis has largely been on financial services, cultural clusters and tourism.
