Case Studies The Danish Neighbourhood Regeneration Programme. Kvarterløft in Copenhagen
Kongens Enghave Matching Project
The Kongens Enghave Matching Project is situated in the Green Job House. The Green Job House is a job-training centre where it is possible to receive information and counselling concerning applying for jobs.
The idea for the Green Job House was generated in the regeneration project planning stage in the employment workgroup and was formed in co-operation with the former local council in Kongens Enghave, the regeneration project and residents in Kongens Enghave. The Green Job House was from the start financed through the local council together with an EU Social Fund project. The Green Job House is now anchored in the municipality of Copenhagen.
The activities concerning job applying have been a success but the project has also shown that it can be difficult to plan on a long-term basis when the customer group changes and expands through the project.
The Green Job House has in spite of the success not been able to establish a co-operation between (local) enterprises and the job-training centre. The Kongens Enghave Matching Project is way to implement this in the Green Job-House.
The Kongens Enghave Matching Project is a new project starting in 2003 for matching unemployed with enterprises who are in lack of manpower in specific fields. At the same time the enterprises agree to employ a certain number of persons and the project then educates the persons so their skills fit to the job.
The general idea is to empower unemployed so they are capable of both applying for jobs and maintaining them for a longer period of time.
The Kongens Enghave Matching Project is based on an existing project in Kista, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden, where at first it was a pilot project in one part of Stockholm but now extended to the entire city of Stockholm.
The Kongens Enghave Matching Project consists of project fundings from The Kongens Enghave Kvarterløft Programme, The Kvarterløft Programme of the city of Copenhagen, fundraising, but first and foremost financed through the European Union Social Fund.
