Case Studies The Danish Neighbourhood Regeneration Programme. Kvarterløft in Copenhagen
The initiative
One of the aims of the network was to seek influence – both on the local and on the central level. The Network has done so quite rapidly after the start in August 2002. They do so through meetings with municipal employees and politicians.
The chairman of the Business Network states that one thing was important before the start of the network. That was to be concrete and specific on common subjects that the different businesses can agree upon. It is too easy to agree in unspecific subjects if you are not going to do anything about it afterwards. For example the Business Network agreed to improve traffic conditions for the benefit of both residents and enterprises. Therefore there has been formed a working group to discuss installation of traffic lights with the municipality of Copenhagen.
According to the chairman it is also important to win ‘small victories' within a short period of time so that it gives the different participants in the Network the feeling of getting somewhere from the beginning.
