Case Studies The Danish Neighbourhood Regeneration Programme. Kvarterløft in Copenhagen
Setting up a local secretariat
All the Copenhagen projects have their own local secretariats – in charge of the entire project. And Kongens Enghave was no exception so in 1997 a local secretariat was established. The reason for doing so was the wish to keep the knowledge that was gathered through the work in the neighbourhood.
The secretariat had a basic construction with a project co-ordinator, an architect and a secretary. This was supplemented (over time) with other staff workers and consultants for specific projects such as resident counselling, environmental work, urban renewal etc. Not everyone was employed by the municipality. A number of staff members were hired and paid by for example housing associations. But all of the staff members acted as one team in the regeneration process.
