Postscript

The Moravians have, with their beautiful old traditions and style of living, made a distinctive impression both on the town and its surrounding area. From starting life solely as a Moravian town, Christiansfeld, as a result of the law of 14 April, 1869 became a "small town" in 1872. It preserved this status during the next 100 years until the town's status was again altered in 1970 with the new council reforms. The town was hereby amalgamated with the 10 surrounding councils to form a large "Principal Council" taking the name Christiansfeld Council.

Despite these changes, the town still bears witness in a unique way of the cultural and spiritual traditions which the Moravians brought to the area in 1771, a tradition which the present inhabitants still cherish.
