The Moravian Church

The Moravian Church, (containing the largest church room without supporting columns in Denmark), has space for approximately 1000 people. Within the Moravian movement the main part of the church is called a "room". It was consecrated on August 13, 1777, but within 20 years it had been extended, with the addition of two wings. Inside, the church is characterised by simplicity. The large room is completely white, without altar, christening font or pictures. The only decorations are the old hand-forged chandeliers from 1776. The wooden floor is untreated and covered sparsely with sand. There is no pulpit, though there is a liturgy table.
The church's organ was built by the firm Marcussen in Åbenrå and was first used in May 1865. In conjunction with the church's 200th anniversary, a thorough restoration of the organ was undertaken. The organ now has 20 stops.
